His faith required witnesses: someone to hear the confession, and others to watch him pass and tell the gods he spoke his final truths. He asked 
Verum-Gaea, who knelt.
The story started slow and boring — a household servant who made friends with the wealthy and was trusted as he grew older — and then resolved into something else entirely. He was the personal servant of the Emperor. He grew up beside him. And on the day of the Emperor's death, he is the one who killed him.
He believed the empire was sick and that others had convinced him this was the cure. Then he died.
Nobody called bullshit. Nobody had time to. Only these seven heard it.
